CEP 841 allowed me to dig deeper into solutions to address behavior problems, which occur within the classroom. I was given knowledge of classroom management and current trends in behavioral management, which can help educators. Some of these included Functional Behavior Assessments, Positive Behavior Support, and Behavior Intervention Plans. Students were given the option to focus on areas of current behavior topics; I focused on Positive Behavior Support.

Being a general education teacher, I learned an in depth knowledge about Universal Design for Learning (UDL). I now am able to identify accommodations, modifications, and differentiation. This knowledge has helped with the increasing amount of students that are being placed in the least restrictive environment, which is the general education classroom.

Policy Practices course focused on legislation and laws that deal with special education. I learned more about Universal Design for Learning, Response to Intervention, and Assistive Technology. I learned how to create a collaborative learning community. I was able to create an IEP, which I have never done. I have always been on the other side of an IEP meeting, it was valuable to see how intense it is to create an IEP.
